What's on my heart this morning.... Matthew 22:37-40

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:37-40

I don't want to get into works and legalism here, but isn't the word 'all'  pretty much the defining word here..?

How much should we love with...?   How much is: ...ALL...?   Its pretty much everything, isn't it...?   Yes, all is 'everything' we have,  not leaving  ANYTHING  out.

Then I come across a verse like:  Isaiah 64:6...  But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

The bible says our best works are like filthy rags before God...!   And that's how I feel much of the time:  Like a filthy rag.

But Praise God for Ephesians 2:8-10...   For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

I am so thankful that my salvation does not depend on something I have to do.  It all depends on Jesus...!

Thank You, Lord.

My prayer today is that You continue to work on my heart, Lord.  And my soul and mind, too!

Father, give me a greater hunger and thirst for Your Word and to know You more.  Help me to be the man You have called me to be.  Lord let my daily walk be about honoring and glorifying You.   Lord I pray a blessing on my precious family this morning.  Help me to be their spiritual leader and to be the best daddy and husband I can be to them.

Bless my witness and testimony this morning Lord.   I love you and praise You, my King.

In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

JC Ryle

"People are backsliders on their knees long before they backslide openly in the eyes of the world." ~ Pastor J.C. Ryle
When I saw that quote from JC Ryle I stood convicted.   Of course, most of Pastor Ryle's quotes convict me.  But this one in particular hit home because I have been struggling a bit in my prayer life, lately.
We have three enemies to our prayer life.  The Devil, Our Flesh, and The World.  I believe one of the greatest reasons for my backsliding is Face Book.  I spend way too much time on Face Book.   I allow Facebook to be a distraction and a big time waster.   The enemy uses Facebook to his advantage.   We are being led to the slaughter.
Heavenly Father,
Today I am praying for You to deliver me from the allure of Facebook.  Praying for the discipline to spend MORE time in the WORD, and  LESS time in the WORLD and Satan's devices.
Thanking You, God for my blessings.  Love You, Lord.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen
