Yesterday was our first day back at church in a long time. During the worship period of the service I went up and received prayer. I feel like a different person today. Praise the Lord...!
Cere presented a good message. It was very convicting, as usual. He's always making us think about changing. But that's the problem. For most, myself included, Sunday sermons are an intellectual workout that seldom produces change. Here I am after a whole year at life church and I'm still struggling with some of the same sins I always have.
But for some reason I do feel different today. I think yesterday was really a 'breakthrough' day for me spiritually. I'll be exploring this topic for the next few blog posts...
Today I just have to give praise for my sweet little boy's Birthday. Today Elijah turns three years old...! Wow..! Three years...! What a blessing...! Oh my precious little Elijah... How we all love him...!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Today is truly a happy, blessed occasion. Thank You Lord for times like this. Father God I give You all the credit for everything good in my life. Thank You for delivering me from the bondage of anger and busy-ness. Thank You for my precious family and the occasion of Elijah's 3rd birthday. Thank You Lord for the trials that refine me and draw me closer to You.
Father God I am most definitely not a perfect man. Oh I have many faults. Lord I am very sorry for my sins and I will do everything in my power to make them right. I want to honor You by living a life of purpose dedicated to You, my King.
Father God I can face today because of Your grace and wondrous mercy. Thank You Jesus. Thank You for the healing. Thank You for the courage.
God You are a good and awesome God. I totally give today back to You for Your Glory, in Christ Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Starting the week in prayer...
Dear Heavenly Father,
Lord I thank You for another day of life. I thank You for another day to make a difference in this world. And I want to do just that, my King. Father God I give this day to You. I pray for a productive day, Lord. I pray blessings on my and wife's schedule today. Help us to make the most of our time... Help us to impact others for the Kingdom through our life witness.
Lord, Monica and I acknowledged our 3 and a half year wedding anniversary yesterday. Father, I give thanks and praise You for giving me such a halthy marriage and such a fine wife and family. Thank You for Elijah and Connor. Bless me to be a leader to them Lord.
Father God I love You. And I pray these things in the power of my precious Lord and Savior: Jesus Christ, Amen.

One Reason God Gave Us Children
Proverbs 3:11-12 says 'Do not despise chastening of the Lord....For Whom the Lord loves he corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.'
God gave us children so that we would teach them and bring them up in His ways.
Indeed, Solomon's Proverbs three is basically a manual of guidance for the young. The verse above really jumped out at me in my study this morning. What first caught my eye is the part about a Father delighting in his son.
I began thinking of my relationship with Elijah. I hadn't previously thought about it in these terms but I DO delight in that little boy. And although I haven't had to administer very much discipline to him at this point in his life I certainly won't hesitate when the time comes because I do love him that much. And the bible says the Lord loves us the same way. WE are HIS children. And that we should not get discouraged when the Lord 'chastens' us.
Wow... If I didn't have kids I wouldn't have the complete understanding of that verse that I do now. It's hard to believe that in my younger days I was adamantly opposed to having children of my own.... I certainly have a different perspective now.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Lord thank You for making Your love for me love more clear through my understanding of my love for my own children. You are amazing. You are an awesome God. You are my holy Father. It is my desire that You do delight in me as I delight in Elijah.
Father God I'm sure that Brian delighted in Connor as I delight in Elijah. Lord I want to lift up my relationship with Connor to You this morning. And I lift Connor up to You, my King. He's growing up without his earthly daddy, and I can never replace Brian. But Lord I am here for Connor and I need Your help to be the best step dad I can be.
Lord our relationship needs You. This family needs You. THE ENTIRE WORLD NEEDS YOU, FOR THAT MATTER... But Father I want to have a better relationship with Connor. I don't need to be his best friend, but I need to be more to him than I currently am. And I believe that You require more of me than I'm currently giving to that situation.
Father God I love You. And I want to do Your will and be right in the middle of Your will for my life and the life of this family. Lord I can't do that on my own.
I need you Jesus, to come in and rescue me. Today I choose to live my life completely for You, my Worthy King...! And I give You the Glory for my successes and yes, even my failures because I know that when You chasten its only because You love me . Thank you, Lord. Thank you Jesus. And I pray these things in the power and glory and might of Your precious, holy name, Amen.
